Animal-based RP? No, I'm serious?

The closest thing we've had to this was To Paradise, which was rather successful, despite not finishing.

This is just a general idea, nothing specific in mind yet- Should I or another create an RP where you role play as an animal? These animals could communicate with eachother and such, and depending on type of RP, humans may or may not be involved.

We could have RPs with a ton of animal types to choose from or as few as just one animal type, such as a wolf-only RP, like To Paradise almost. (Except without all of the transforming-into-humans-ness) Up to you.

But in general, what do you think about the idea of an animal-based RP?

I reckon it'd be cool, either with humans and we roleplay as animals in the real world like dogs can be pets of humans and stuff and no fancy things, OR we could do it like that but in a native setting with either natives who hunt us or no humans at all...

The other option I see would be to make it like redwall where the animals are almost human, weapons bows etc... But personally I don't like that as much! I'd prefer a mix myself, perferably heh no humans or have them roumored so they could come later like say on a continent (unnamed) and no humans are on it and maybe halfway through the rp humans come either medival or full modern day chainsaws and diggers and stuff and they start bringing this continent "under control" and the animals must try to survive. either way I'd strongly go for multi animal classes even birds and even water mammals that can go on land, even water animals as secondary characters like whales as likely the rp would mostly be on land and they would have little use as a main character.

so all that taken into account.

1. definatly I'm in.
2. Beginner or Standard difficulty. (perhaps aiming at beginner)
3. All animal types.
4. perferably no humans at least not at the start of the rp (perhaps like "Over The Hedge" setting.

Definately would be comething different. I don't see why not.

i approve, and you know what i'd pick. and it's an interesting concept. i actually did a owner pet(turned to human) RP a wile back, and i like writing as animals.

If I started an animal-based RP, I would only do so after CC is done. That's a long ways away, I know.

This sounds interesting. I already have a bit of a plot idea forming, if you don't mind the ramblings of a newbie.

I think this was awhile ago and Brandon has already made said animal RP... Tooth and Claw, if I'm correct.

Anyway, I too have been conjuring up some ideas for an animal-based role play. I'm interested to hear your thoughts also. If you want you can still post them, or if you don't want to spam up this thread you could also PM me about it and we could chitchat. ^^

Yes, I was thinking perhaps we are animals that were involved in experimentation of some sort/ spiritual experience/ glowing rock fell from the sky and did stuff to us (I dunno'), but we've suddenly become conscious to one another, and we have to decide whether we can survive amongst one another, or if our instincts are going to lead us. :3

Can the mountain lion learn to eat fruit? Can the rabbit be cautious to not multiply so much that the mountain lion has to eat them lest there be no more plants to eat?

Oh wow. That is a very interesting idea. Because it is true, animals seem pretty much unaware of other animals. Very interesting, in fact.

Also, the more I think about it, the more I think why must there only be one animal based RP? Personally, I prefer them. If you made that, I would definitely join. I almost feel like it should be an equal balance between human and animal RPs. Of course, it does depend on the role players.

Thanks, I will think about it and perhaps flesh it out some more. I'm going to be hung up for the next week or so, so it probably will take a little time to start, but I'll keep it in my memory banks.
