Poem-The Zen of Sleep

I lay here in the darkness
Staring at the ceiling
My thoughts quickly growing
My mind not at rest
I wish i could fall asleep
To escape the world in which i live
All the torment spitting on me as i walk by
Its stench lingering in the air
I fall asleep,retreating into my safe haven
My outer heaven
The place that i wish for
And the people i desire
But i know it isn't real
This opposite reality
Just some happiness before i wake
Is all i want to take
The pain i feel it melted
With this moment i delight
It helps me like a friend
One that really cares
Now back to the world
It's cold and unforgiving
I remember my time of peace
One that awaits me in my sleep

Hmm. Not bad.

But this part seems a little sketchy:

"It helps me like a friend
One that really cares"

I think that could be much stronger.
